Opening of Dubbo Campaign Office

Former Members to open Mathew Dickerson’s campaign office in Dubbo

Independent Mathew Dickerson has earned the endorsement of both former seat of Dubbo Members who will officially declare open the candidate’s Campaign Office in Dubbo this week.

Former Dubbo State Members John Mason and Dawn Fardell will officially open the office at 102 Macquarie Street on Tuesday 20 November just four months out from the March 2019 state election.

Mr Mason – Member for Dubbo from 1965 to 1981 – was a member of the Liberal Party; is a former Government Minister and a former Leader of the Opposition; while Dawn Fardell was the first ever female Member for the seat of Dubbo where she served from 2004 until 2011 in addition to serving on Dubbo City Council from 1999 until 2005 and is also a former Deputy Mayor of Dubbo City Council.

With twenty-three years of experience between them as state Member for Dubbo, Mr Dickerson was particularly honoured to earn their support.

“That’s a huge vote of approval,” he said.

“There are only two living former Members of this seat, so to have 100 per cent support of all former members is significant and also gives the community an idea of the confidence both of those members have in endorsing me in going forward. They don’t endorse people lightly.”

The campaign office is the second of its kind to be opened by Mr Dickerson who also occupies a shopfront in Wellington.

He endeavours to be the voice of the people across the entire electorate with many current residents feeling disenfranchised with the representation offered by the major parties.

“If elected, my job is to ensure I am representing all people across the electorate, Mr Dickerson said. “I can’t open a campaign office in all 131 localities but I will open multiple offices to give the community better access to me.

“I am serious about this election, I am not just putting my hand up to be a name on the ballot paper, I’m putting my hand up to win the election.”
